![]() ![]() If Lionsgate is reading this, I’d seriously consider moving John Wick: Chapter 4 (now slotted on Memorial Day weekend against Top Gun: Maverick) to July 15. ![]() I’m not remotely optimistic, but since I may have to eat a little crow about WB’s Dune (which slightly overperformed with a $38 million overseas launch), I’ll hope for the best for the moment. While I might argue moving the film out of summer is a bad sign, and maybe it is, Fate of the Furious and The Jungle Book nabbed over/under $100 million debuts on this very weekend in 20. I hope this third film is more character-focused and less plot-heavy, with the ability to wrap it up in the fourth film if The Secrets of Dumbledore absolutely flops. I’d blame too much world building, too much mystery-boxing, too many twists and turns that meant more to audiences than to the characters. The film was delayed (even before Covid) from the expected November 2020 release date in an attempt to fix what went wrong with the second film. ![]()
